About the event
We'll be spending the weekend in Kingston diving off shore. Come for one, two, or all three days!
Some examples of dives we could choose from include:
- The HMS Princess Charlotte (from the war of 1812) lies in about 20ft of water in Deadman's Bay. Dive wet or dry as the shallow bay warms up quickly.
- Gord Downie Pier is a fun treasure hunt (iwatches, jewelry), or just a relaxed exploration of the timbers south east of the Pier.
- The Great Lakes Museum has an easily accessible dive site with lots of old piers, and some wrecks/debris.
- A tour of the "Keewatin", the last Great Lakes Steamship is very interesting. The Keewatin predates the Titanic, and is being carefully restored by museum volunteers.
- If you haven't seen the historic Rideau Locks in action, Kingston Mills is only 10 mins north of the 401.
- Diving from the Test Center where there is a shallow wreck "The St Lawrence".
- In Portsmouth Harbour there is a lined dive out to 2 large ships anchors, and then on to the Stacked Hulls in about 45 ft of water. It is a good swim out to the Hulls, so doubles or a pony bottle are required.
